Mirek Piaseczny

Chief Information Officer, PHD

Dr. Mirek Piaseczny is responsible for information technology (systems and systems administration), as well as for software development and data management for Advancing Health and the CIHR Canadian HIV Trials Network (CTN).

He has over 30 years of experience in leading the development, implementation, and management of information technology solutions in areas of clinical research and the health care delivery process. His expertise includes clinical systems design, systems architecture, software development, interface development, and health data exchanges.

Dr. Piaseczny joined Advancing Health and the CTN in 1992. He has a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lodz (Poland–1978), and a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences, Health Informatics from the Medical Academy of Lodz (1984).

His work experience includes the B.C. Provincial Renal Agency, Circle Drugs, Ltd., and the Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine. His professional interests include clinical trials, electronic health records, health registries, and administrative databases.
