CHÉOS welcomes four new researchers

We are pleased to welcome Drs. Habib Chaudhury, Alana Flexman, Velma Mockett, and Alastair Younger to CHÉOS. These new additions will strengthen current capacity and expand CHÉOS expertise into new areas of research. Read on below to learn more about our new additions.

Habib ChaudhuryHabib Chaudhury, Scientist, PhD, FGSA is a Professor in the Department of Gerontology at Simon Fraser University. He has extensive research experience in the field of environmental gerontology. Dr. Chaudhury conducts research and consulting work in physical environment for people with dementia in long-term care facilities and community planning and urban design for active aging, among other areas.

 

Alana FlexmanAlana Flexman, Scientist, MD, MBA(c), FRCPC is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at UBC and Director of Research for the Department of Anesthesiology at Providence Health Care. Her research focuses on perioperative neurologic outcomes, including perioperative stroke, with a parallel research program on equity in medicine. She holds several national and international leadership positions in her medical specialty.

 

Velma MockettVelma Mockett, Research Associate, PhD, MTC, RCC is a Clinical Team Lead at an Indigenous agency in Calgary AB. She is also a Mental Health Consultant at Blink Mental Health Services. She specializes in chronic illness, resilience, and mental health in the workplace. As a mental health consultant, Dr. Mockett collaborates with employers and agencies on program development, evaluation, and knowledge translation.

 

Alastair YoungerAlastair Younger, Scientist, MB, ChB, MSc, ChM, FRCSC is the Head of the Division of Distal Extremities and a Professor in Department of Orthopaedics, both at UBC. His research interests include bone healing and growth factors, outcomes research in foot and ankle, ankle arthritis, and minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery. He is the president of the British Columbia Orthopaedic Association.
