How to design clinical trials to increase enrollment and impact: Patient-oriented approaches to trial design
While clinical trials provide some of the most rigorous sources of evidence, they are often hampered by low recruitment and, even if meeting primary endpoints, a low impact on clinical decisions in the real world. This session will begin by providing an overview on the problems with clinical trial design, before presenting two examples of patient-oriented methods that could improve the design of future trials. The first example will examine how recruitment can be predicted based on different modifiable factors in trial design. The second example will explore how composite endpoints can be used to identify optimal treatments for patients with differing values.
