CGSHE Speaker Series: Reducing drug- and sexual-related harms among sexual and gender minority people

Sexual and gender minority people experience inequitable rates of drug- and sexual-related harms compared to their cisgender and heterosexual counterparts. CGSHE faculty member Dr. Rod Knight will discuss a program of interdisciplinary research involving a variety of methods, including qualitative, quantitative, community-based and mixed-method approaches. The talk will include “deep dives” into several contemporary health issues affecting sexual and gender diverse youth, including the overdose crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, the sexualized use of substances, substance use regulation, and mental health. Dr. Knight will also describe how public health solutions can be designed and optimized to improve health outcomes among sexual and gender diverse people.
